Investigators Re-enter Fells in Stoneham With Metal Detector, Lighting

A pair of investigators recently re-enters the Middlesex Fells Reservation with a metal detector early Thursday evening.

Around 5:15 p.m., two State Police investigators entered the woods through a fire gate off Route 28 north about a mile away from intersection near Friendly's.
At 5:45 p.m., a Mass State Police officer entered the woods with lighting. A woman with a Golden Retriever dog walking toward the taped-off area was asked to move away from the scene.

Around 2 p.m. police began investigating a report of a suspicious shallow hole found roughly 40 yards in from the fire gate. As of 5:30 p.m., authorities have not confirmed that a body has been located in the woods.

MassDOT has set up orange traffic cones and two sign vehicles directing northbound traffic into the left lane, as State Police vehicles are parked in the right lane.
