With two nighttime armed robberies in less than a week, we'd like to know: Do you feel safe visiting Stoneham businesses at night? On Tuesday night there was an armed robbery at the DB Mart on Main Street, and another armed robbery occurred Thursday night at Sunset Tanning on Montvale Avenue, according to police. Police believe the same person may be behind both robberies. Have the robberies changed the way you shop or do business in Stoneham at night? My wife and I will not venture to the high crime spots like Variety Stores, Package Stores, Food Shopping stores or a Bank after the sun sets. With the increase of armed robberies in Stoneham there's no sense taking a chance. I am all for raising taxes to increase the presence of police in our town. The "SPA" and musties. Stoneham Theater was $.25 and a movie theater. The small pin bowling alley on Main Street. The outdoor skating rink and small shack with the pot belly stove in rect park. Stoneham used to have everything you needed - without leaving town.   more ›
