Caller threatens arrest if money is not wired to an account.
[Editor's note: The following information is from a press statement submitted by the Middlesex County Sheriff's office.] The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens today of a telephone scam involving a man falsely claiming to work for the Civil Process Division of the office. In the scam, the man allegedly claiming to be a Middlesex Sheriff’s Office deputy working on behalf of group named ‘American Cash’ and with an out of state law firm tells the person being called he, or she, will be arrested if they do not wire money to a specific bank. The call might appear to be coming from a legitimate sheriff’s office number, but it is not. “We want citizens to be aware of this scam so they can properly protect themselves,” said Middlesex …

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office alleges that Michael Dell'Isola of Somerville accepted cocaine and $500 from an undercover Mass. State Trooper.
A sergeant with the Middlesex Sheriff’s Department was arraigned Wednesday on drug charges after he allegedly received cocaine and money from an undercover state trooper, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone recently announced in a press statement. Michael Dell’Isola, 51, of Somerville, was arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on a charge of trafficking cocaine. First Assistant Clerk Magistrate Matthew Day ordered the defendant held on $1,000 cash bail. His next court date is July 20 for a pretrial conference. In April 2011, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office received information regarding Dell'Isola's alleged trafficking, the press release said. A Middlesex Sheriff's Department captain and two corrections officers used public resources in connection with a political fundraiser for former Sheriff James DiPaola.
A captain and two corrections officers from the Middlesex Sheriff's Office were fined by the State Ethics Commission for violations of the state's conflict of interest law in connection with a fundraiser for former Sheriff's James DiPaola, the Ethics Commission announced in a press release on Wednesday this week. Capt. Eril Ligonde, Corrections Officer Richard McKinnon and Corrections Officer Heidi Ricci—who are all assigned to the Billerica House of Corrections—were paid a civil penalty of, respectively, $10,000, $3,000 and $2,000.
