What's Open, Closed in Stoneham on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Check out some of the places that will be open and closed on Monday, Jan. 16.

It seems that Martin Luther King Jr. Day will have the usual closings (schools, banks, the post office, government offices and many area barber shops/salons). However, most area restaurants, shopping centers, gas stations and places of business will be open. Patch recommends calling any business or restaurant not listed below to double-check to see if they are open or closed on Monday, Jan. 16. Julia Kelly is This Week's Whiz Kid

Stoneham High School student Julia Kelly is the "Whiz Kid of the Week" for her work through the Boys & Girls Club and for an upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Day event.

Stoneham Patch Whiz Kid of the Week Key to Awesomeness: Kelly stands out due to her positive attitude and dedication to making a difference at the Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham. Kelly has progressed from a former Club member to being an active junior staff member at the Club, as well as regularly volunteering for the Club’s after-school homework help program and mentoring five younger members. Additionally, Kelly is one of the featured speakers Monday at the Stoneham Martin Luther King Jr. Day event where she will be speaking on social justice. Kelly has made a great contribution to the Club and is a role model for all Club members. When Julia initially started attending the Boys & Girls Club, she was drawn in by the variety of programs …
