How old are Stonehamites? Stoneham has the largest percentage of people over the age of 65 in the Greater Boston region, according to data by the U.S. Census Bureau. At 18.6 percent, Stoneham ranks atop the list of communities with a population over the age of 65, followed by Lynnfield at 18.1 percent and Saugus at 17.5 percent. Stoneham also ranks second to Saugus (15.9 percent) with a population of 55-64 year olds at 14 percent. A community's age counts for a lot.
