Stoneham Father, Son Arraigned in Little League Embezzlement Case

Stoneham residents Stanley and Stephen Komins are not to leave Massachusetts while their charges are pending.

A Somerville District Court judge ordered a Stoneham father and son accused of embezzling more than $50,000 from the West Medford Little League to surrender their passports and not leave the Commonwealth while their charges are pending. Stanley Komins, 78, and is son, Stephen Komins, 45, both of Stoneham, appeared before Judge Neil Walker Friday morning for arraignment on their charges. Not guilty pleas were entered for both. Stanley Komins was the longtime president of the league's board of directors while Stephen Komins spent many years as the league's treasurer. Report: Komins Has 'No Idea' About Little League Embezzlement Charges

Stanley Komins said "No, no way" when asked by a Fox 25 reporter about the charges that he and his son Stephen Komins stole over $50,000 from the West Medford Hillside Little League.

Stoneham resident Stanley Komins was "seemingly unaware of the charges filed against him and his son," according to a Fox 25 reporter who spoke with Komins about him allegedly embezzling more than $50,000 from the West Medford Hillside Little League. "No, no way," Komins said when Fox 25 reporter Erica Ricci told him about the charges at Komins' Stoneham home. When Ricci said authorities have charged that Komins' wrote checks to himself from the league account, Komins responded, "Sure, because they owed me money. Why shouldn't I reimburse me? I spent hundreds of dollars for the little league on umpires and everything else. But I really, I have no idea." Stoneham Men Accused of Stealing $50K From West Medford Little League

A Stoneham father and his son who have served as president and treasurer of the West Medford Little League organization for years have been charged with larceny for allegedly stealing more than $50,000 from the league, according to a press release from Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's office. Stanley Komins, 78, of Stoneham is charged with larceny by embezzlement over $250 and his son Stephen Komins, 45, also of Stoneham is charged with larceny by embezzlement over $250, uttering a false check, and forgery by check. Both men will be arraigned on Jan. 4 in Somerville District Court.
