Today we observe Veterans Day, a national holiday established in 1926 to honor men and women who have served in the military. However, with the holiday falling on a Sunday government offices and some Stoneham businesses will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12. The Town of Stoneham, VFW Post 620 and the American Legion will be hosting the Veterans Day services planned for Friday. Master of Ceremonies will be Stoneham Board of Selectman Bob Sweeney. Services will be held on the front steps of Town Hall. Residents are asked to gather around 10:30-10:40 a.m. for the ceremony at 11 a.m. Music and Taps will be performed by the Stoneham High School Band, led by Director Edward Grammer. The Public Address will be conducted by Brian Johnson.
