Five Things: Donate to the Toys For Local Children Cause

Check out the five things column for Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Here are five things to know for Tuesday, Dec. 11 in Stoneham: 1. In case you missed it: Stoneham Police responded to a single-car accident on Forest Street Monday morning. 2. Make a donation: The Toys For Local Children drive is underway for those who would like to donate a new, unwrapped toy. They will be accepting toy donations until Dec. 20, and all donations will go directly to children in Stoneham. Collection boxes have been placed at Stoneham Fire Station, Stoneham Town Hall, Stoneham Bank on Montvale Ave, Stoneham Savings Bank on Main st, and Arielle's Cafe & Pizzeria. Letter to the Editor: Holiday Toy Drive for Children's Hospital and The Jimmy Fund Clinic

Stoneham youngster Emily Cashell is running her second annual toy drive this holiday season.

[Editor's note: The letter below was submitted by Stoneham resident Mark Cashell.] To the Editor, I am writing on behalf of my daughter Emily who has organized her second annual Holiday Toy Drive for Children’s Hospital and The Jimmy Fund Clinic. Emily is off to a late start this year due to her grandmother was hospitalized long term do to a horrible accident. With her grandmother now back at home Emily has asked if she could hold a second Holiday Toy Drive for Children’s Hospital and The Jimmy Fund Clinic. Emily is now nine years old and has not forgotten how her last two Christmas Holidays were spent in and around Children’s Hospital and The Jimmy Fund Clinic. This was during her sister Ashley’s treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia…
