Senator Warren and Mayor Menino Discuss Gun Violence Prevention

Warren is sponsoring three bills that would support gun control reform, a gun buyer background check, and making gun trafficking a federal crime.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Senator Elizabeth Warren discussed gun violence prevention on Friday, championing reforms including a criminal background check on anyone buying a gun in the country. "Now is the time to turn words into actions, to line up supporters and to mobilize all Americans behind common sense gun reform," Menino said after walking to the podium with a cane at the Parkman House. Menino joked with Warren, calling her the "senior" senator of Massachusetts, then turned serious about three major points key to gun violence prevention: Warren said she's sponsored three bills being unveiled next week that support those three points. The problem is illegal guns, stolen legal and "shared" guns. All the massacres were perpetrated by young men using prescribed, mind-altering drugs. We need to identify those that have mental problems and sociopathic tendencies, and deny them access to weapons. Menino should focus on ending forced busing, not propaganda.   more ›

Boston Mayor Menino Endorses Elizabeth Warren for U.S Senate

He gave his endorsement at a pro-Warren rally in Roslindale on Friday afternoon.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren for United States Senate during a pro-Warren rally in Roslindale Friday.   Menino, a Democrat, said he did not endorse Warren right away because he "wanted to get to know her" first. And he came to his final decision by pretending he wasn't the mayor, he said.  "What if I was just a guy from Hyde Park who had a job with the city, whose wife was an accountant and worried about their retirement savings," he said. Menino must be thinking twice today after the latest Warren ad regarding her true heritage. I wouldn't mind so much but she received a 0% loan to attend Harvard due to her alleged heritage. We working stiffs have to mortgage our homes @ 5% to provide our kids an education. Who's looking out for who????????????   more ›
