POLICE LOG: Cabot Road Vehicle Vandalized, Hubcaps Stolen

Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.] At 12:29 p.m. May 29, Stoneham police responded to Cabot Road for a report of vandalism and larceny from a vehicle. The caller claims the front window of their vehicle was shot out with a BB, and hubcaps were stolen from his parked vehicle. The incident reportedly happened Friday, May 25. Police to investigate. May 29 @1:23 p.m.: Police responded to Chestnut Street for a report of a possible fight between two men in the street. The fight was verbal in nature between a father and son. Got documents, old checkbooks or other papers that need to be destroyed? Attend the shred day slated for Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 80 Montvale Ave.

StonehamBank is set to host their fourth annual Shred Day on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you have old documents, receipts, bills or any other papers that need to be destroyed, bring them to the free shredding event at 80 Montvale Ave. The shredded paper will also be recycled. Stoneham Resident Named 2012 Banker & Tradesman Community Bank Hero

Janice Houghton, president and chief executive officer of StonehamBank, received the award for her dedicated community service.

StonehamBank President and Chief Executive Officer Janice Houghton was recently recognized as a 2012 Banker & Tradesman Community Bank Hero. Houghton, a lifelong Stoneham resident, has 42 years of banking experience, according to her profile on the StonehamBank website. She is involved in many different community organizations including the Stoneham Retirement Board, Visiting Nurses Association of Middlesex East, Winchester Hospital, Mystic Valley Elder Services, Zoo New England and the Co-operative Central Fund. The weekly dinner kicks off at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday at 1 Church St.

Stoneham Church Receives Matching Gift Opportunity for Steeple Fund

The First Congregational Church in Stoneham is looking to the community for help to reach its fundraising goal for the Steeple Fund.

[Editor's note: The information below was provided by the First Congregational Church in Stoneham.] An anonymous donor has provided the First Congregational Church in Stoneham with an opportunity to make sure its historic steeple continues to be a traditional New England beacon of light and source of beautiful music in Stoneham’s town center. The donor will match each dollar raised up to $5,000 in donations that the Church collects to help pay off the loan for the 2004 steeple repairs. To guarantee the entire matching gift, the Church must raise the funds by April 15 and is looking for assistance from businesses, organizations, families and individuals in the community. Boys & Girls Club Receives $25,000 Donation for New Van

The Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham were the recipient of a $25,000 donation courtesy of the 99 Restaurant, the Bruins Alumni Association and other local companies. On-hand at the check presentation was former Bruins great, Rick Middleton.

$25,000 for a new van Thursday afternoon, the Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham received donations totaling $25,000 from several area businesses and organizations. Among the donors were the Ninety Nine Restaurant, the Bruins Alumni Association, Stoneham Ford, StonehamBank and Eastern Bank, raised through the profits of the 99 Legends vs. Bruins Alumni Game that took place in March. The $25,000 will be used to purchase a new van for the Boys & Girls Club, a tool the club has desperately needed to provide travel opportunities to their members and to pick kids up after school. “We are very grateful to the 99, Stoneham Bank, Stoneham Ford, Eastern Bank and the Bruins Alumni for their generous gift,” said Interim Director at the Boys & Girls Club, …
