UPDATED: State Police: DCR Parking Ban Starts Saturday Night at 9

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is instituting a parking ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday due to the snowstorm, according to a State Police press statement.

Updated at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is instituting a parking ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday due to the snowstorm, according to a State Police press statement. "...The Department of Conservation and Recreation or DCR will institute a parking ban on all of their roads in anticipation of the pending storm," reads the statement. "These roads are all around parks, waterways and areas generally patrolled by the State Police. "All vehicles not removed from these areas will be towed to allow for snow removal and emergency access." State Police initially reported the ban would begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, but sent out a second press statement with the corrected time of 9 p.m.

The use of such electronic devices can be hazardous while operating a vehicle, State Police said this week.

REPORT: Suspect Led Police on High-Speed Chase on I-93

A suspect led police on a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 93 late Thursday night, according to a scanner report.

A suspect led police on a high-speed chase on Interstate 93 late Thursday night, according to a scanner report. Shortly before midnight, State Police attempted to stop a driver allegedly traveling over 100 miles per hour on the highway, according to the report. The suspect was last seen by a detail officer at Route 28 and Pond Street in Stoneham, according to the report. Stoneham and Melrose police were notified about the incident, the report added. State and Melrose police were standing by at the suspect's residence on Pleasant Street in Melrose, according to a Twitter report. We'll provide an update once we obtain more information.

REPORT: State Police Can't Catch Car Going 109 MPH on I-93 in Stoneham

The incident occurred before 2 a.m. Tuesday., according to a scanner report.

An unusual incident happened early Tuesday morning on Interstate 93 in Stoneham: State Police couldn't catch up to a vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour, according to a scanner report. Shortly before 2 a.m., State Police Troop A broadcasted a motor vehicle was going 109 miles per hour and that a trooper was unable to catch up to it, according to the report.  The speeding vehicle was described as a Volvo-type car. It's unclear if the driver was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident. No arrests were reported. What do you think about this incident? Salem Man Accused of Drunk Driving, Stealing a Car in Lowell

Jonathan Torres, 31, of Salem, faces several charges after allegedly leading area police officers on an early Wednesday morning search.

After leading area police departments on a search through the woods in Stoneham, a Salem man was arrested early Wednesday morning in the area of Route 93 southbound near the Route 128 northbound ramp, according to a State Police spokesperson. Jonathan Torres, 31, of Salem, faces several charges, including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, subsequent offense, receving stolen vehicle, refusing to stop for police and possession of burglary instruments, according to the spokesperson. Torres was expected to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Wednesday, according to the spokesperson. After spotting a gray Honda Accord in the breakdown lane with its lights…

After leading area police departments on a chase through the woods in Stoneham, the suspect in a stolen vehicle case was taken into custody by State Police early Wednesday morning, according to scanner transmissions. At about 2:11 a.m., Stoneham, Woburn and State Police officers began searching the Route 128 north area in Stoneham for a suspect that allegedly fled from a stolen vehicle. The suspect was spotted by a passerby abandoning the vehicle and running into the woods in the area, the reports add. Several minutes later, a K9 unit began searching the woodline and marsh area located between BJ's Wholesale Club and the highway. The crash occurred early Friday morning on I-93 in Stoneham, according to scanner reports.

A North Andover woman accused of drunk driving crashed into a State Police cruiser early Friday morning on I-93 in Stoneham, according to a State Pollice press statement. At 12:35 a.m., police responded to a car accident involving a State Police cruiser on I-93, according to the statement. A State Police trooper was inside the cruiser when it was struck by a 2004 Volkswagen Passat, according to a State Police spokesperson. UPDATED: Brush Fire Extinguished Quickly in Stoneham

The brush fire Wednesday afternoon was in the same area of the Middlesex Fells Reservation as Monday's fire near the edge of I-93 near Exit 34 northbound in Stoneham.

A brush fire in the Middlesex Fells Reservation along the edge of I-93 near the Medford-Stoneham border Wednesday afternoon was quickly extinguished, according to Stoneham Fire Lieutenant Matthew Rexrode. The fire was in the same area as the brush fires that broke out Monday afternoon near Exit 34 northbound of I-93, according to Rexrode. Stoneham Engine 3 put the fire out quickly, according to Rexrode. Medford firefighters were also called to the scene, added the lieutenant. The cause of the fire is unknown.
