A messy wintry mix will slam Massachusetts starting Monday night and lasting through the day on Tuesday.
It'll be a tough commute on Tuesday morning, as yet another storm blows through Stoneham and Massachusetts starting Monday night and lasting throughout the following day. The current forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) says Stoneham will see 3 to 7 inches of snow: 2 to 4 inches falling Monday night, and another 1 to 3 inches on Tuesday morning. The storm could switch between rain and snow—with the rain quickly freezing over on roadways—before becoming all rain after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, which should see a high temperature of 38 degrees. The wind could also gust at high as 38 miles per hour. Rain and snow showers will continue into the evening hours on Tuesday, according to the NWS, which issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect …

Stoneham could get anywhere from three to eight inches of snow, according to Thursday morning forecasts.
Snowfall predictions for the current snow storm hitting Stoneham have varied over the past 24 hours. At first forecasters said the area could receive four to eight inches of snow. A long-duration storm is knocking on the city's door, but most local meteorologists expect little snow in the Boston area.
Stoneham's in for some wet weather Wednesday through Friday, according to local forecasts, but despite early warnings of around a half of foot of snow, don't get out your snow shovels yet. For Boston, the local weather teams aren't predicting very much snow. Instead, expect a lot of rain and maybe some heavy slushy snow in spots. While areas inland may get a half a foot of snow, Boston's bigger concern is the three high tides during this storm. Flooding may become an issue along the immediate coast. The National Weather Service, which on Tuesday forecast 4-8 inches of snow in Stoneham with the caveat that there was "still some uncertainty with snowfall amounts," has tempered its forecast to 2-4 inches. Here are the latest forecasts from …
Another 4 to 8 inches of snow could fall in Stoneham starting Wednesday night through Friday morning, according to forecasters, as another storm heads towards southern New England.
Punxsutawney Phil's prognostication back on Groundhog Day for an early spring is increasingly looking like a cruel joke on the public. Stoneham could see between 4 and 8 inches of snow starting Wednesday night through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), which issued a winter storm watch on Tuesday night. "There is still some uncertainty with snowfall amounts, but this storm will have a significant impact on southern New England," the NWS said. The forecast calls for a chance of rain showers during the day on Wednesday, as the high temperature will hover near 42 degrees with a steady northeast wind between 13 and 21 miles per hour and gusts as high as 36 miles per hour. But as the temperature drops overnight, …

Stoneham could see around a half a foot of more snow Saturday night into Sunday.
There are still huge snowbanks everywhere from the Blizzard of '13, even after moderate temperatures this week, but Old Man Winter isn't done with Stoneham yet. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until Sunday at 1 p.m. for a storm that will pass through the area starting Saturday night. The forecast calls for 1-3 inches of snow on Saturday night and another 2-4 inches on Sunday, mainly before 4 p.m. Visibility won't be great either, as winds could gust as high as 43 mph on Sunday, blowing the snow around and producing wind chill values as low as -2 on Sunday night. The gusty winds will continue on Presidents Day, which will be sunny with a high near 32 but wind chill values as low as -4.

Light, fluffy snow on rooftops can act as a sponge for rain, which is in the forecast for Monday. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency offers these tips.
With rain in Stoneham's forecast for Monday, the Blizzard of '13 may not be finished wreaking havoc in Massachusetts. While temperatures dropped overnight on Friday resulting in light, fluffy snow, he Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) warns that fluffy snow piled high on roofs can act as a sponge, absorbing rain and adding additional stress to structures. Relatively flat roofs are particularly vulnerable, MEMA says. In other cases, roof ice dams have formed causing water build-up, leading to interior damage. These conditions can accelerate the snowmelt. To minimize the risk of over-stressing a building roof due to accumulated or drifting snow: Information from a release by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA…
