Salem Man Accused of Drunk Driving, Stealing a Car in Lowell

Jonathan Torres, 31, of Salem, faces several charges after allegedly leading area police officers on an early Wednesday morning search.

After leading area police departments on a search through the woods in Stoneham, a Salem man was arrested early Wednesday morning in the area of Route 93 southbound near the Route 128 northbound ramp, according to a State Police spokesperson. Jonathan Torres, 31, of Salem, faces several charges, including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, subsequent offense, receving stolen vehicle, refusing to stop for police and possession of burglary instruments, according to the spokesperson. Torres was expected to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Wednesday, according to the spokesperson. After spotting a gray Honda Accord in the breakdown lane with its lights…
