As Congress wrestles with how to avoid the imminent fiscal cliff, a poll finds that Massachusetts voters strongly favor increased taxes on the rich, less corporate welfare and no cuts in social security, Medicare or Medicaid. "I think that this survey really gives us a clear view of voters expectations of their elected officials," said Jason Stephany of MassUniting, a coalition of community groups, neighborhoods, faith organizations and workers advocating for good jobs, corporate accountability. MassUniting conducted the poll along with Public Policy Polling. It was conducted from Nov. 27-29 and included 638 Massachusetts voters. Should terminally ill patients be allowed to request a lethal treatment from their doctor? That's one question Massachusetts voters will consider when they hit the voting booth this November. The initiative, called "Death with Dignity," received enough signatures to be placed on the ballot in November, according to the state's attorney general. The proposal in Massachusetts would allow individuals who have been diagnosed with an illness that will cause death within six months to obtain medication to self-administer to end their life. I believe in Death with Dignity. We don't let our pets suffer. Why would we want our loved ones to suffer. I don't want my loved ones to die, I don't want them to suffer either. To see them in pain, or hooked up to life support. That's not living. I would want it for myself. I know not all would agree but I think it should be an option for those who want it. more ›
