"Security and emergency procedures are reviewed annually with school administrators and local Fire and Police Departments, and they are again being reviewed in light of the recent tragedy in Connecticut," Olson said in an email to Stoneham Patch. The 26 victims in the Newtown, Conn. shooting on Dec. 14 were remembered during a Christmas Eve vigil at the Stoneham Town Common.
Dozens of Stoneham area residents attended a solemn Christmas Eve vigil to honor the Newtown, Conn. shooting victims at the Stoneham Town Common. The vigil was organized by concerned Stoneham mom Erin Sinclair who put it together through a Facebook page, an email blast campaign and word of mouth. “Grace Mcdonald, age seven. Emily Parker, age six. Jack Pinto, age six...,” said Jim Devlin, veteran's service officer for Stoneham, from a small podium at the gazebo on the Common. The company-wide blackout is to honor the memory of those killed last Friday in Newtown, Conn.
This morning at 9:30, Stoneham Patch will join AOL in a company-wide blackout as "moment of silence" to honor the victims of the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., last week. According to Techcrunch, the campaign was inspired by Connecticut's governor, who called for a moment of silence. Web companies Causes and SV Angel spearheaded the idea in the tech sector. It follows a coalition of tech leaders calling for more gun control. Other companies likely taking part in the "Web Moment of Silence" include Adobe, Duke University, Salesforce and WillCall. There will be a vigil for the victims in the Newtown, CT shootings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Christmas eve at Stoneham Town Common.
To honor the nearly 30 victims of the Newtown, Conn. fatal shootings, there will be a vigil held on Christmas eve in Stoneham. The vigil is slated for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Stoneham Town Common, according to organizer Erin Sinclair. At 7:28 p.m., green LED-lit balloons with names tags of the victims will be released simultaneously in many communities by 20 elementary aged kids and 8 adults, followed by a two-minute moment of silence, according to Sinclair. "27 balloons will be released for the victims of Sandy Hook and the 28th balloon is for all lost souls or people who are or have someone that is a victim from acts violence," wrote Sinclair on the event page on Facebook. Tom, the local paper did carry the report of the criminal stealing from employees at the South Elementary School. No comment from Olson nor anyone on how the individual entered freely into the building, that was kept hush hush. Nor was the employee reprimanded for this action. The local paper also reported the first sexual allegation against Orloff however has not yet mentioned the additional two…   more ›
