Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.] At 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20, Stoneham Police called to Main Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injuries. Two vehicles were towed from the scene, and two people were taken to Winchester Hospital, according to police. Sept. 20 @10:38 a.m.: Police responded to the Main Street Mobil area for a report of a minor motor vehicle crash. No tows or transports reported. Both parties exchanged insurance paperwork, according to police. @12:49 p.m.: Police called to Redstone Shopping Center for a report of a hit-and-run incident. The caller reported her vehicle was …

While most crime and calls for service were down in 2011 compared to 2010 for the Stoneham Police Department, home break-ins and motor vehicle accidents did increase by 32.6 percent and 21.6 percent, respectively. The physical assault on a candidate was at the least unfortunate. I mis-wrote when I typed above that the police refused to arrest the alleged assaulter. From what I hear, by law they cannot do so. And if anything, it still makes things feel "less safe".   more ›
