Commuter Rail, 128 Closed After Tanker Rollover

With gasoline spilled across Route 128, Tuesday morning's commute could be affected as clean-up continued on Monday night.

A tanker truck rollover on Route 128 Monday night could affect Tuesday morning's commute, including the MBTA commuter rail line serving the Stoneham area.  Route 128 South was initially closed at 10 p.m. after a tanker truck rolled over at Exit 36 near the Route 93 cloverleaf and the Woburn Mall, unleashing a river of gasoline, as reported by Woburn Patch. The Reading to Boston commuter rail line will be closed during the fuel spill cleanup, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) said via Twitter. UPDATED: Faulty Burner Sets Off Carbon Monoxide Detector at Chem Center

The building was briefly evacuated, but the scene was secured in 30 minutes and no one was injured during the call for service, according to a fire dispatcher. No injuries were reported.

A carbon monoxide detector was triggered by a faulty burner at the Chem Center Tuesday afternoon, leading to a brief evacuation of the building at 48 Montvale Ave. Shortly after 3 p.m, emergency personnel responded to the scene following a report of a strong odor of gas in the Chem Center. The scene was cleared in about 30 minutes and no one was sick or injured during the incident, according to a Stoneham Fire dispatcher. Melrose and Winchester Fire crews provided mutual aid during the incident.
