The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is instituting a parking ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday due to the snowstorm, according to a State Police press statement.

"...The Department of Conservation and Recreation or DCR will institute a parking ban on all of their roads in anticipation of the pending storm," reads the statement. "These roads are all around parks, waterways and areas generally patrolled by the State Police. "All vehicles not removed from these areas will be towed to allow for snow removal and emergency access." State Police initially reported the ban would begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, but sent out a second press statement with the corrected time of 9 p.m.

"About 100-150 foot section of Rt 28 (not to be confused with 128) from Elm (Street) to the (Interstate) 93 ramp, by the Fells Reservation (the area is known as the Sheepsfold Parking Lot) is closed due to flooding," said DCR spokesperson SJ Port in an email to Stoneham Patch. The Stoneham pool, which was initially wasn't going to be opened by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, is now slated to open this weekend.
Stoneham's Hall Memorial Swimming Pool wasn't expected to be opened by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) this summer, but now the pool is slated to open Sunday, July 15, according to a press statement from Sen. Katherine Clark's office. Open swim hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, visit the DCR website.

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) have reversed their decision to close Hall Memorial Swimming Pool this summer, according to an announcement by State Sen. Katherine Clark. At Tuesday night's Stoneham Board of Selectmen session at Town Hall, Clark and Laura Richter, a representative with State Rep. Jason Lewis' office, informed the board of the pool's opening. “It will take two weeks minimum to get water and staffing up,” said Clark. While Hall Memorial Swimming Pool may be closed in 2012, the wading pool will be open from June 23 to Aug. 26.
After taking into consideration several factors, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has decided not to open Hall Memorial Swimming Pool this summer, according to a DCR spokesperson. "We are in fact not opening the Stoneham swimming pool for the 2012 season," wrote DCR spokesperson S.J. Port in an email to Stoneham Patch.
