Police: Clerk Throws 'Chili Powder' in Gunman's Face, Thwarts Robbery

Police: Tanning Salon Robber Matches Description of DB Mart Suspect

The description of a suspect involved in an armed robbery Tuesday night at the DB Mart convenience store may be the same person that robbed Sunset Tanning Thursday evening in Stoneham, according to police.

The description of a suspect involved in an armed robbery Tuesday night at a Main Street convenience store may be the same person that robbed a Montvale Avenue tanning salon Thursday evening in Stoneham, according to police. At 8:12 p.m. Thursday, Stoneham Police responded to Sunset Tanning, 62 Montvale Ave., for a report of an armed robbery, according to Detective Christopher Dalis. "(The) suspect approached (the) female clerk, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded (the) cash drawer," Dalis said, adding that the "suspect fled on foot toward the parking lot." There was an armed robbery at the DB Mart convenience store on Main Street Tuesday night, according to Stoneham Police Detective Christopher Dalis.

A Stoneham convenience store was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night, according to Police Detective Christopher Dalis. At 8:59 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the DB Mart, 427 Main St., for a report of an armed robbery.  "(The) suspect entered (the) store and pointed a black handgun at the clerk demanding the cash drawer," Dalis said. "(The) clerk gave (the) suspect entire drawer with cash which the suspect placed in a black bag. Suspect fled on foot out of store toward Maple (Street)." UPDATE: Armed Robber Allegedly Knocked DB Mart Clerk to Floor

The 56-year-old clerk sustained a minor head injury Monday night, according to police.

A white male with a folding pocket knife entered DB Mart Convenience Store at about 9:15 p.m. Monday, struck the store’s 56-year-old male clerk to the ground and then stole “several hundred dollars” from the register, according to Stoneham Police Chief Richard Bongiorno. He said Stoneham Police detectives are actively investigating the armed robbery and are attempting to identify the suspect through surveillance footage from a neighboring business. The suspect appeared to be in his mid-30s, according to police scanner reports, however, Bongiorno said no approximate age was given in the police report.
