Perhaps one of the largest issues to hit the Election Day ballot was set into place on Tuesday night as the Stoneham Board of Selectmen have decided what they will present to the voters as their solution to the town’s looming budget deficit. Override Receives OK To Appear on Town Meeting Ballot The board narrowly approved (3-2) a motion by Selectmen Chairperson Paul Rotondi to place an article on the ballot asking voters for an override of Proposition 2 ½ that allows the town to collect $1.9 million in new revenues from property taxes. The Tri-Board, comprised of School Committee, Board of Selectmen and Finance and Advisory Board members, issued their mission statement and municipal and school budget forecasts for 2012 and beyond.
Today the Stoneham Tri-Board released their long term financial planning budget presentation for the 2012 fiscal year and beyond. The Tri-Board, which consists of School Committee, Board of Selectmen and Finance and Advisory Board members, are on a mission "to determine the best use of reasonably anticipated available funds for a balanced (fiscal year) 2012 budget," according to the presentation. The trio also plan to "create a realistic approach and agreement on a financial plan for dealing with Stoneham's fiscal issues for (fiscal years) 2012 and, within reason, fiscal years 2013, 2014, and 2015."
