UPDATED: Brush Fire Extinguished Quickly in Stoneham

The brush fire Wednesday afternoon was in the same area of the Middlesex Fells Reservation as Monday's fire near the edge of I-93 near Exit 34 northbound in Stoneham.

A brush fire in the Middlesex Fells Reservation along the edge of I-93 near the Medford-Stoneham border Wednesday afternoon was quickly extinguished, according to Stoneham Fire Lieutenant Matthew Rexrode. The fire was in the same area as the brush fires that broke out Monday afternoon near Exit 34 northbound of I-93, according to Rexrode. Stoneham Engine 3 put the fire out quickly, according to Rexrode. Medford firefighters were also called to the scene, added the lieutenant. The cause of the fire is unknown.

UPDATED: Stoneham Firefighters Extinguish Brush Fire in the Fells

Stoneham Fire Department able to knock down Tuesday evening's brush fire by Wednesday afternoon, according to Stoneham Fire Chief Joseph Rolli.

Stoneham firefighters were able to extinguish a large brush fire at the Middlesex Fells Reservation that started Tuesday evening by Wednesday afternoon, according to Fire chief Joseph Rolli. "Everything went well," Rolli said in an email Friday to Stoneham Patch. "We put a crew of seven men with two engines in there on Wednesday and the fire was out around 3 p.m." No one was injured while tending to the blaze, which covered about 7-8 acres, according to Rolli. At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, the fire department received a call about a brush fire in a remote part of the woods behind the Life Care Center of Stoneham and the former Boston Regional Medical Center. Stoneham Patch was unable to gain access to the fire, which never put either complex in…

POLICE LOG: Stoneham Police Called to a Brush Fire at the Middlesex Fells Reservation

Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.] At 6:30 p.m. on March 18, Stoneham Police respond to the Ravine Road and Woodland Road area on a report of a brush fire. A hiker at the Middlesex Fells Reservation reported seeing a fire in the woods. Nothing was found on Ravine Road; however, Engine 3 located the fire south of the high service reservoir. State Police were notified that a lock had to be cut to gain access to the blaze. The fire was extinguished. Engine 3 returned from the scene needing to replenish the water tank.
