UPDATED: Armed Person Barricaded Inside Central Street Home in Custody [PHOTOS]
A white man in his 50s was taken into custody by a S.W.A.T. team that entered the rear of the building just before 11:30 p.m. Monday. Stoneham Police have not identified the suspect while the investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE 11:41 P.M. S.W.A.T. teams and Stoneham Police blocked off the Central and Elm Streets area in Stoneham on Monday night responding to a report of an armed man barricaded in a Central Street home, who is now in police custody. A witness, who was evacuated from her apartment along with two others, said there was an "unwanted guest" with either a gun or knife inside the three-family home at 83 Central St. State Police later confirmed the suspect's weapon was a knife. Shortly before 11:30 p.m., radio reports indicated that the S.W.A.T. team entered the home and took the suspect into custody.
