This adorable puppy is looking to adopt new owners.
PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving Stoneham and several communities north of Boston. Hi! My name is Penelope Tofs, but you can call me Penny. Actually, you can call me anything you like if we can be friends. Ok, now that we are friends, I have to tell you a secret. I am looking to adopt a person or family. Please don’t tell anyone because I don’t want my potential adoptees to get scared off. Sometimes people don’t know they are being adopted by the rescue pet and not the other way around. Oh my goodness, people can be silly. People describe me as a big personality in a small package and they ooh and ahh over my cuteness and spunk (whatever that is). …

This cat needs a new home—could it be yours?
PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving Stoneham and several communities north of Boston. So you know my name. But do you know how smart I am? I decided life on the street was not for me… too cold, too hungry, too lonely. So I found my way to this house and hung around acting friendly until, unable to resist my charms, the resident PAWS volunteer saw me and took me inside. It was February 12, Lincoln’s birthday, which I have now dubbed my “new-birth day.” It’s also the day they started calling me Lincoln. Ah, I do like PAWS. Life here is great and I have no desire to go outside ever again. Why would I? I have everything I need right here in my foster home…

Lowell is waiting for you at PAWS.
Oooh, I like the looks of you. I do, I do. My name is Lowell and I am a young, sweet, and very unique looking cat who wants a new home and family. And I think you might just be the one for me. Well, to be honest, I have never met a person I did not like. I am just a very, very, friendly guy. And, a really nice kitty, too. Maybe you are more picky than I am? So, let me tell you about myself and then you can decide whether or not we are meant for each other. (Of course, I am certain you will discover that we are a perfect match, but I am pretending to let you decide—wink, wink.) I am young and playful. I love to play, especially when you dangle things for me to chase. I also love to play on my own. Give me any little ball and I will…

This cat is looking for a new home—could it be yours?
PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving several communities north of Boston. Brummble-Rumble-Brummmmbr... That is me, Maddy, the purr machine. Can you hear my engine revving up? Purring is one thing I do very well because I am a very content cat. And why wouldn’t I be? I have had a great life with a wonderful person who I loved very much. Unfortunately, my human died after we were together for ten years. She got me as a kitten and always took good care of me. As you can imagine, I miss her very, very, much. But, she is gone, and I have to accept that fact no matter how sad it makes me. Now, I am glad to be in a PAWS foster home. Some cats my age are not so lucky…

Ovi Wants to Celebrate with You
Happy New Year! I certainly hope you will have something good to celebrate as we enter 2013. I, on the other hand, am not in the mood because I won’t have anyone to be with to watch the ball drop or to kiss me at the stroke of midnight. But, you go ahead and have a good time. I don’t mind. I will just stay here at PetSmart and wait for someone to fall in love with me and take me home. It’s not a big deal. I am not a party guy anyway. Not really. Well, ok, maybe a little. I’ll just have to postpone my celebration until I have a real home with people who love me and toys to play with and a warm chair or lap for when I get tired out. It’s not the champagne and streamers I will miss--although, I could really get into chasing those …

Sacagawea: Beautiful, Brave and Ready to make History
Sacagawea: Beautiful, Brave and Ready to make History My name is Sacagawea, and my days exploring in the wild are over. Like my namesake, the brave, pregnant, Shoshone girl who guided Lewis and Clark on their expedition, I was quite the outdoors woman, giving birth in a backyard and evading my trappers for two months. But now that I am in a PAWS foster home, with all the comforts that brings, I realize that the indoor life is the one for me. So, you may ask, what’s so great about staying inside? First of all, I love all the cool toys, especially the ones with catnip and anything that rolls. And, of course, I love the people who toss the balls and play with me. I also thoroughly enjoy it when they pat me and hold me. Safe inside, I get to …

Will you adopt these feline trekkers searching for a place to call home?
Crusher and Picard, named after the famous "Star Trek: The Next Generation" pair, are at maximum warp speed looking for a new home in our solar system. Crusher, with her sweet calico face, likes to go boldly where no one has gone before. No, she doesn’t climb the curtains, but her antics will definitely amuse you and capture your heart. She is a big fan of cat toys and will carry her favorites around the house. She also loves to greet people at the door, even if she doesn't know them. Her brother, Picard, is an irresistible yellow tabby who also loves his toys. His favorites are furry little mice, which he tosses into the air in order to catch and chase after them. Picard is known in his foster home as a “love bug” who enjoys curling up …
