Readers Tab Hank's Bakery as Most Missed Business in Stoneham

Find out what other former Stoneham businesses also garnered multiple votes.

After more than 30 votes were cast by our readers, Hank's Bakery garnered the most tallies and was tabbed the most missed business in Stoneham. Of the 32 votes received, Hank's Bakery received five votes to top the list. "Gay's Flower (and Blossom) Shop and Hanks Bakery - both places knew the meaning of customer service - it was like walking into 'Cheers' - they knew your name and always went out of their way to take care of special orders," wrote reader Laura. Fellow reader Russ added: "Hands down it's Hank's bakery. Real baked goods - not 'Cambridge' upscale." Tulip Asian Cuisine Opens on Memorial Day

The restaurant, located at the former Ames location at 119 Main St. at Redstone Shopping Center in Stoneham, opened its doors to customers at 4 p.m. Monday, May 28.

It's been roughly one year in the offing, but Tulip Asian Cuisine's long-awaited grand opening was held on Memorial Day. At 4 p.m. Monday, the restaurant opened its doors to patrons, according to Manager Chris Tsao. The establishment is located at the former Ames location at 119 Main St. at Redstone Shopping Center in Stoneham. "We've had about 90, close to 100, people come in so far," Tsao said around 8:30 p.m. The goal for the opening was to serve more than 100 customers, according to Tsao, and the restaurant appeared on track to eclipse that mark. The 82,000-square-foot restaurant, which was first pitched to the Stoneham Board of Selectmen May 10, 2011, features an 80-seat dining room, 76-seat Teppanyaki grill room, 32-seat lounge area…

The greeters were very friendly and we did not wait to get a table.  The waitress with a very serious face commanded us to select drinks from the list. we preferred to get some sparkling water. The seaweed salad was a very tasty, but underneath we found a larger portion of thinly sliced dikon. The Beef was very tasty and tender.
