Adopt a Beary Dog and Get a Real Sweetheart

This dog is looking for a new home—could it be yours?

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving several communities north of Boston. Everyone loves me.  I can tell that because they all say how cute and sweet I am. Some call me a doll, which frankly, is not so appropriate since I am a dog and a boy one at that.  But they are right about me being special.  Who wouldn’t love me?  I am small in stature (the size of a very large cat) and big in heart.  I just love meeting everyone because I adore people.  I am always ready to play, to follow you around, to be your friend and to do doggie things with you.  Did I say that I love people?  I do. You may be wondering how a nice dog, like me, ended up homeless.  My story is sad…

Jax Wants to Share His Big Heart With You

This cat is looking for a new home—could it be yours?

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving several communities north of Boston. If I look sad in my photo, it is because I really want to have a home of my own again.  I am a young and healthy guy who loves people.  I loved my former people right up until they brought home a Great Dane puppy.  Yeah, puppies are cute.  But do you know how big that cute thing got?  I can’t even describe it.  I’m sure he was a good guy, but I was way too intimidated to find out.  Having to deal with my fear of the dog made my life quite stressful and so we all decided it would be best if I found a new home.  Enough of the sad stuff because I am not letting that define my life. Let me …

Lightning Wants You to Mother Her

This cat is in search of love, attention and a warm lap.

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving several communities north of Boston. My name is Lightning and I am a stunning, young cat who is more than ready to get some me time.  I don’t know why they call me Lightning, because if I am fast, it is only because I have been dashing after kittens.  Babies, babies, babies, oh my.  Mine were lovely, but I am so done with being a mother.  Now I want someone to mother me. What do I mean by mothering me?  Well, I love to be patted.  I love to be scratched behind my ears and stroked from my neck all the way down to my tail.  I am so sleek and smooth your hand will glide right over me like, well, like lightning.  Maybe we can …

Winter is a Warm and Loving Adolescent

This 8-month-old kitty is looking for a new home—is it yours?

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving several communities north of Boston. My name is Winter, but I am not the least bit like that season. I am all spring, sweet and happy and loving, the kind of kitty who will sit on your lap and purr and purr. The kind of girl who likes to be scratched, rubbed, and petted in all those good cat spots (ears, chin, neck, etc.). In this very cold end of January, I am a tiger who will bring a lot of warmth into your home.  Did I say tiger? Not a real one silly! I am actually a torbie because of my range of colors (orange, brown, grey, cream) mixed with tiger stripes. Did I mention I am young? Maybe 8 months old. Some would say …

Striker Has Charisma of a Movie Star with All the Fun of a Clown

This big cat who loves to be held is looking for a new home. Could it be yours?

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving several communities north of Boston. Striker is my name, but sweetness is my game. That is right, I am a beautiful, adorable, handsome, sweet, funny, and loads of fun. Oh, I am also a very modest guy, so I won’t toot my own horn. I will just let you look at my pictures. I can be goofy, or serious, or very chill as you can see. That is me, all me. Ok, I am not a small guy. But hey, there is lots of me to love. I like my kibble and I like it often. I will sit, patiently shifting my weight from right to left and squinting my eyes at you until you get the message and give me a treat. I want your attention, true. But, I want …

Fudgecicle is Sweet and a Real Treat

This playful and loving kitty is looking for a new home—could it be yours?

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving several communities north of Boston. Hi everyone. My name is Fudgecicle, but you can call me Fudge, for short. As you can see, I am not a good speller. But I think I got my name because I am all brown like the frozen treat called a fudgesicle. Or maybe it was because I am extremely sweet, if a bit fuzzy. I am also quite unique with my medium-length, fine hair with no undercoat.  You will be amazed by how soft and silky I am. Besides my beauty (and let’s not discount that), I am a very easy kitty to have around. I can be initially cautious, and will most likely hide in a new environment or around new people. But you can pull…

Mitzi the Wonder Dog Wants to Go Home with You

The PAWS pet of the week.

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving Wakefield and other nearby communities. Sniff, sniff… you smell good. Can I come home with you? I really want a home and even from here I can tell we are a match. My name is Mitzie Horn. I am a one-year-old black and white puppy. I can’t give you a pedigree since I am a combination of things as you can see. But I think I really turned out to be quite sleek, elegant and special… a one of kind. I am a very happy and friendly girl. I have met one other dog here about my own size and I love to play and wrestle with her. I also love to chase balls and play with stuffed toys. I have a special toy I keep in my cage when I can’t be…

PAWS Pet of the Week

Milo is a Future Olympian

Milo is a cat in need of a home.

My name is Milo and I have some growing to do so I can catch up with my long legs and big feet. Being an adolescent boy is a part of my charm. Don't you think I am adorable in my orange tiger striped coat? Besides being cute, I am also very friendly and playful.  I love string toys and will jump very high to catch them. I am thinking of a career in basketball or possibly a try for the US men’s gymnastics team in 2016. My event will either be the high jump or box diving. OK, as you can see from my picture, maybe I will specialize in being stuck in the box when exploring. Is there a gold medal for that event? Despite these antics, I can be very laid back when I am ready to rest. Indeed, I fell asleep on top of my foster mother the other …
