Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham Offers Music & Technology Course [VIDEO]

The club has seen great success teaching modern music production to teenagers.

This spring, the began a new modern music production and songwriting course called ‘Music & Technology.’

The Powered by Club Tech Grant, sponsored by Microsoft and Comcast, has provided the club the opportunity to take its music instruction to a new level where music education offerings could be expanded greatly.

Music & Technology aims to teach music production with a new approach that allows participants to dive right in and start creating music immediately. This course is a fusion of technical skills and musical training where club members learn to express themselves in new ways.

This class, which is open to club members between the ages of 13 and 18, breaks down the skills needed to complete a song in an engaging manner. Through a 12-week program, members learn how to navigate digital audio production software and learn the fundamentals of music theory and songwriting. Topics covered include melody, harmony, dynamics, layering, song arrangement and mixing and mastering a completed song.

Music & Technology has proven to be a very popular program and the club looks forward to offering this course again in the fall.
