STONEHAMBANK OFFERS EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION SEMINAR FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS OCTOBER 9

Stoneham, MA – Are the people working for you your employees?  Are they contract workers? What’s the difference? Does it matter? With all that you have to do as the chief cook and bottle washer of your small business, you may think that employee or contract labor issues don’t really matter, what matters is getting the job done. But, you could be putting your business in jeopardy.

Community-based StonehamBank offers you the tools you need to answer these questions and keep your business worry free when it comes to classifying your employees. Join us on Wednesday, October 9 from 8 to 9:30 AM at 80 Montvale Avenue in Stoneham for a free one hour seminar that addresses these issues.

Presenter Attorney Howard Brown will review changes to federal and state law and how the agencies’ “strategic enforcement” of those laws affects employers who misclassify workers. He will also deal with recent developments in litigation of wage and hour cases in Massachusetts.

He also counsels clients regarding day-to-day employment law issues involving COBRA; the Family and Medical Leave Act; reasonable accommodation to disabled employees; employment contracts; severance; and employee handbooks.

This topic encompasses every business, from those with only one employee to those with hundreds.
