Senator Clark: “Our public investments should support clean and renewable energy sources, not big oil.”

BOSTON, MA—Senator Katherine Clark today called for the state to divest from oil companies in favor of clean and renewable energy sources.

“As a state we must send the message that our public investments should support clean and renewable energy sources, not big oil,” said Senator Clark. “Divesting our funds from fossil fuel companies will improve our shared environment and spur innovation in our clean tech industries right here in Massachusetts.”

Senator Clark attended a State House rally and spoke with advocates from across the Commonwealth about the need to move the state’s investments from fossil fuel companies to clean and renewable energy.  Senator Clark supports An Act relative to public investment in fossil fuels (S. 1225), which would direct the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Trust (PRIT) to divest from all publicly traded fossil fuel companies within 5 years and prohibit any new investment in fossil fuel companies.
