Meet Independent Candidate Jim Aulenti: 'Let's Rock the House'

Jim Aulenti is running as an Independent candidate for the 5th Congressional District, which was left open after Ed Markey was elected to the United States Senate after "having a dream."

“For years people have been asking 'what’s wrong with our country and Washington,'” Aulenti said. “I decided to run as an independent because I abandoned the major parties a while ago. I abandoned them because they abandoned us and the duty to uphold the Constitution.”

“The Constitution is the greatest protector of human rights ever conceived. We’re aware of our unique place in world history and world affairs. Right now, the world is watching. I say let’s rock the house. Now is the time to stand up with dignity and simple honor and tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may.”

The focus of his campaign is to get our economy going. “I am the only candidate with a bona fide economic recovery plan which includes common sense tax reform, strength in our Social Security program and a national medical plan that we could be proud of and use if we want to.” Aulenti said that the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, was a program with good intentions, but bad practice, eventually resulting in a violation of the Tenth Amendment. “Overall, I was hoping President Obama would be a transformational president, but his record has shown otherwise.”

After teaching for 30 years, Aulenti became a financial advisor, catering to clients from all walks of life, from the working poor to the mega rich. This has given Aulenti a unique perspective on the economic issues families face today.

Where Jim Aulenti stands:

On the economy:

We were warned by President Eisenhower about the Military-Industrial complex, which over times has morphed like the Blob into the Military-Industrial-Government, taking our countries banking, financial, insurance, big farm, education and the Media programs with it.

On the Wars:

The War Powers Act is unconstitutional. It is very clear that Congress shall declare war. We have been at war now for over a decade with families shattered, many dead and wounded and we’ve been kicked out of both countries. (Iraq and Afghanistan) For that reason, our campaign is dedicated to our veterans.

National Security and the NSA spying:

The NSA spying on our people does not make us safer and has not stopped any major threats, as we saw with the Marathon Bombing. It is a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment. People who want to harm us will try, malice lives in the heart. Until we can irradiate hate, there will be violence. There are things we can do to reduce intentions of malevolent people.

The fiasco with Healthcare.gov:

We have, here in our district some of the best software engineers in the world, as good as Silicon Valley. Where was our representation? There are qualified people here who could have designed a fantastic website for Healthcare.gov. Instead, this billion-dollar contract went to a Canadian software company and we got nothing out it.

Gun control:

Local police departments have background checks and do a great job of effective gun control. There are signs on the highway saying “it is illegal to own an unregistered firearm in Massachusetts. But I there will always be big tension between personal freedom and societal safety. That’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Medical Marijuana:

Go for it. I believe that non-addictive marijuana could be manufactured and sold for good use.

Dispensaries within the district:

Let local authorities decided. Local authorizes have a good idea about drug abuse in their communities. Again controlled use, personal use can be regulated on a local.

Should the Federal Government legalize gay marriage:

I think this is a state-by-state issue, but love comes in it’s own time and place, shape, form, color. Personally, I say god speed.

Immigration:

It’s not a crime to be here illegally, should be. We all came from somewhere. Immigration adds to the lifeblood and vitality of our nation. We encourage it. We passionately want people to come here. Legally. Every passport has a time stamp. Is recorded by INS and Dept. of Transportation. When that Visa expires, if people don’t go home, maybe they should be invited to. Every stockbroker in this country is fingerprinted by the SEC. Maybe immigrants should be too at point of entry. We have the database for it. It’s illegal for immigrants to go on welfare federally, but states administer it.

How to work with the people whose ideology you disagree with?

Another Democrat or Republican will not change anything so long as they repeat the same old, tired, failed message. “Blame the other guys, raise taxes, lower taxes, cut spending, raise spending, etc.” Their message is dead on arrival. It’s time to put in an Independent that can serve as trusted liaison.

What’s the story behind your campaign slogan, “Let’s Rock the House?”

My son’s band, Photo Bomb, wrote a song called “Let Freedom Ring.” That is the campaign song. We want to rock the House and change things for the better.

How do you re-up the public faith in Government?

Keeping promises is number one. Congress is not party time, like that jerk in Florida. (Florida Republican congressman Trey Radel)  He should be thrown.  What am I asking people to do? Mission of campaign is to win and begin realignment of congress with the great mainstream center of the American electorate. The nation has righted it’s self but the parties have not. They have lost the faith of the people and control of the government and we the people want it back and that’s why I’m running.

Aulenti is running against Katherine Clark (D) and Frank Addivinola (R) in the special election on December 10.
