Flash Flood Warning Issued, Street Flooding 'Imminent'

A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of Essex and Middlesex counties on Wednesday afternoon.

A flash flood warning has been issued for Boston, the North Shore and others areas around Boston until 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday

At 2:30 p.m., the National Weather Service said that because an inch of rain has already fallen on Wednesday and more thunderstorms “producing heavy rain” are moving through, "flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.”

Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles and the weather service said that if you encounter a flooded road you should turn around.

The warning was issued because of the potential for “rapid and potentially life threatening flooding,” and the weather service added that flooding for streets and unpasses is “imminent.”

“In urban areas, avoid flooded roads and obey road closures,” the flood warning stated.
