With Katherine Clark now in Washington D.C. representing the Massachusetts Fifth Congressional District, the Fifth Middlesex District needs a new state senator. Nomination papers aren't due to local clerks offices until Jan. 21, but there are already a few contenders in the race.
- Christopher Fallon, Democrat, state representative, Malden
- Anthony Guardia, Homestart director of development, Democrat, Wakefield
- Jason Lewis, Democrat, state representative, Winchester
The primary for this race is scheduled for March 4. The general election is April 1. You can see other key deadlines and dates for the race at the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website.
The Fifth Middlesex State Senate District includes all of Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham and Wakefield, along with Winchester precincts 1, 2, 3 and 8.
