State Police Investigating Woods Near Route 28, Spot Pond

State Police are investigating the woods off Route 28 near Spot Pond in Stoneham Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene around 2 p.m. , and State Police are spearheading the investigation, according to Stoneham Police Chief James McIntyre.

The wooded area being investigated is located on Route 28 north roughly a mile from the intersection near Friendly's in Stoneham.

Two State Troopers just left the taped off gated entrance around 3:20 p.m. and re-entered the area, along with another man carrying a large handheld yellow device.

It is unclear what the investigation is for, as State Police have not commented on the case.
