REPORTS: Suspect in Stolen Vehicle Case Apprehended by State Police

After leading area police departments on a chase through the woods in Stoneham, the suspect in a stolen vehicle case was taken into custody by State Police early Wednesday morning.

After leading area police departments on a chase through the woods in Stoneham, the suspect in a stolen vehicle case was taken into custody by State Police early Wednesday morning, according to scanner transmissions.

At about 2:11 a.m., Stoneham, Woburn and State Police officers began searching the Route 128 north area in Stoneham for a suspect that allegedly fled from a stolen vehicle. The suspect was spotted by a passerby abandoning the vehicle and running into the woods in the area, the reports add.

Several minutes later, a K9 unit began searching the woodline and marsh area located between BJ's Wholesale Club and the highway. Minutes later, State Police had the suspect in custody in the area of Route 93 southbound to the Route 128 northbound ramp.
