POLICE LOG: Stoneham Woman Charged With Assault and Battery

At 3:23 p.m. July 5, Stoneham police responded to a Mountain View Drive apartment on a report of a disturbance inside the apartment. Ellen Collins, 55, of 100 Mountain View Dr., Stoneham, was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

@2:22 a.m.: Police called to Sullivan Lane on a report of an outside fire. The caller reported seeing flames in the town dump from her house on Landers Lane. The small brush fire was extinguished.

@11:44 a.m.: Police responded to Gavin Circle on an animal-related call. The caller reported a very large coyote in the area. The coyote couldn't be found. Police notified some residents in the area about the coyote sighting.

July 5

@7:22 a.m.: Police responded to Congress Street for a report of vandalism. The caller told police that sometime overnight his two vehicles had a tire each flattened. Police to file report.

@2:31 p.m.: Police called to Pleasant Street on a report of vandalism. The caller told police a fence was vandalized, as there was a hole in it. Police to file a report.

@5:27 p.m.: Police responded to Main Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Two patient refusals. No tows reported.

July 6

@12:55 a.m.: Police responded to the Middlesex Fells Reservation for a report of a person in the water. State Police requested an engine to assist in rescuing. Patient refusal.

@5:42 p.m.: Police called to Mountain View Drive for a report of drug use. The caller claimed four teens were in possession of class D drugs; however, the call was unfounded.
