POLICE LOG: Melrose Man Accused of Assaulting Officer, Breaking into Stoneham Home at Night

At 10:34 p.m. July 21, Stoneham police responded to a High Rock Road home for a report of a building check. Officers discovered a garage door open while checking the building. Kenneth Dykens, 51, of 86 Lake Ave., Melrose, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, breaking and entering into a home at nighttime (felony), receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.

July 20

@1:39 a.m.: Police called to Oak Street for a report of a dog struck by a vehicle. The caller told police that he hit a dog and left the scene. Police to file a report.

July 21

@8:43 a.m.: Police responded to Seward Road for a report of harassment. The caller reported an ongoing problem with their neighbor about the driving of vehicles in the area. Police to file a report.

@5:05 p.m.: Police responded to Franklin Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash. No tow or transports noted. Police to file a report.

@7:10 p.m.: Police called to South Marble Street on a report of a past breaking and entering. Police to file a report.

@9:19 p.m.: Police responded to Patrick Circle on a report of a man with a gun. No arrests made. Police to file report.
