One Dead, One Injured in Stoneham Shooting

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Stoneham early Wednesday morning that left one dead and another injured.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Stoneham early Wednesday morning that left one dead and another injured.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. inside the home at 6 Micah's Pond Way. The victim is 26-year-old Joseph Puopolo, according to a WHDH-TV report. Puopolo spent four years serving in the Army, according to the report.

The status and identity of the second shooting victim is currently unknown. 

The trio of suspects, two of which were apprehended in a vehicle in Medford and one in Stoneham before 3 a.m., were expected to appear in a Woburn court Wednesday morning. At the scene, a State Police trooper declined to comment on the case, referring Stoneham Patch to the Middlesex County District Attorney's office, as they were handling the investigation. 

Stoneham, Woburn, Melrose, Reading and State Police responded to the crime scene. Billerica, Wilmington and State Police K9 units also responded.

Shortly after 3 a.m., investigators appeared to begin processing the crime scene. The home, located in a residential cul-de-sac, was taped off and several officers could be seen discussing the case in the driveway.

As of 11 a.m., the District Attorney's office has not identified the suspects or victims.

Police radio updates confirm that three suspects are now in custody related to the shooting. 

One suspect was reportedly arrested in Stoneham, with two others caught in a vehicle in Medford. 

State Police declined comment and referred questions to the District Attorney's office, who will be handling the investigation. No official word was available on the status of the victims. 

  • As of 3 a.m., investigators were still on scene.
  • Shortly after 2 a.m., an Action EMS ambulance arrived on scene. The status of the victims remain unclear. 
  • Stoneham, Woburn, Melrose, Reading and State Police responded to the crime scene. Billerica, Wilmington and State Police K9 units also responded.
  • At about 1:35 a.m., a State Police K9 arrived on scene. Several officers could be seen gathered at Micah's Pond Way.

Multiple people have been shot on Micah's Pond Way early Wednesday morning, according to reports.

At 12:32 a.m., Twitter user @NEFirebuff tweeted, "Multiple people shot on (Micah's) Pond Way. (One) victim in serious condition. Medflight being requested."

Two men reportedly fled on Williams street toward Woburn, and are considered armed, according to scanner reports.

Around 12:50 a.m., Twitter user @alertnewengland tweeted, "...Perimeter established, (Massachusetts State Police) deploying K9 to search for suspect. Requesting air wing."
