Medford Police Officer Indicted on Charges Related to Stoneham Murder Investigation

The officer allegedly tried to conceal the drug deal that led to the double shooting.

A Medford police officer allegedly lied to authorities and removed evidence from the Stoneham home where a double shooting occurred on July 3 in order to cover up the drug deal that led to the shooting.

Miguel Lopez, 53, of Stoneham, was indicted Thursday by a Middlesex Grand Jury on two counts of witness intimidation, according to a release from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The shooting left one man, 27-year-old Joseph Puopolo, dead and another 28-year-old man injured. The 28-year-old man, who has been released from the hospital, lives at the home at 6 Micah’s Pond Way in Stoneham with Lopez, according to authorities.
