The Week Ahead: A Blood Drive, A Hike in the Fells and Scrabble

A look at the events scheduled for this week in the Stoneham area.

Here are a few events happening in Stoneham this week:

  • On Monday at the VFW Function Hall, 428 Main St., Melrose, from 2-7 p.m., do a good deed and attend the . Help the community, and earn six pieces of chocolate- covered fruit for each donation. 
  • On Tuesday at the Fells, 150 Pond St., Stoneham, from 10-11:30 a.m., take the kids to . Infants and toddlers, preschoolers, kids of all ages are welcome at all Babes in the Woods events. Bring snacks and drinks, and dress for the weather — some trails may be muddy in spots. The walks are cancelled only if it is raining or snowing. No dogs, please.
  • Also on Tuesday in the from 2-6 p.m., don't miss the . This is a wonderful opportunity to buy just picked fruits, vegetables, home-made pies, fresh baked bread, cheeses, teas, herbs and more.
  • From 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Thursday at the , round up the tots and head to -plus. A fun program for children able to enjoy a few good stories and simple crafts in the activity room without an adult.
  • Finally, on Friday at 1 p.m. at the , 136 Elm St., put on your thinking cap and play a few games of   Open to all, drop in on community seniors and brighten their day with some conversation and a new Scrabble opponent.
