Narcotics in your medicine cabinet?

If you are a "newcomer" to this town, especially if you purchased a home here, and have children who will be schooled in town, I can't help but wonder, how much research you did before becoming a citizen. I can assume with a fair degree of certainty, that you did very little, if any looking into the town. The town of Stoneham, has been for over 50 years, the narcotic center for this area. It remains a town where a disproportionate number of residents have drug problems. I am quite knowledgeable when it comes to how people appear when under the influence of narcotics, and I see a number of middle school students, who pass by my house daily while coming/leaving school & there a number of young people who are hitting the medicine cabinet, daily. It saddens me to see this, as it a reminder of my years, in the same boat. If you are a parent who is prescribed narcotic pain-killers, don't leave them in your medicine cabinet! I realize that some folks will be upset, by even bringing this topic up, but  Stoneham is still a town with a drug problem. Because people refuse to acknowledge that a problem exists, does not change the fact. In the early 1970's Stoneham was where folks came for heroin and firearms, not Roxbury.....Stoneham. These statements are facts, sad but true. Stoneham Theatre was running the daily double feature, "Deep Throat" & "Behind the Green Door." Heroin overdoses were a daily occurrence, and you could find a firearm with little problem. Stoneham in the mid-70's was crawling with feds & narcs mostly DEA agents. A number of heroin overdose deaths, ruled as accidental, were anything but accidental, & "rats" were treated accordingly, with rat poison. Some in law enforcement looked the other way and others thought that by beating the daylights out of some, that they could eradicate this problem, not true & when the heat came down on them for attempted strong-arm tactics, they were placed on desk duty....where they promptly fell over backwards, thus injuring themselves, going on disability & eventually retiring with a pension. When the new police station moved from the fire station, to their new (current) headquarters, the "POLICE" signage was a "lollipop" that was made in the U.K. & lighted from within, [it was quite nice] but it didn't remain a fixture for long, before it was cut down and stolen...never to be seen again.
