Community Corner

Don't forget The Commons at Weiss Farm

I for one will be glad when April First comes and goes regarding the elections in our community.    April is a busy month for all of us with the first being Election Day and the 15th deadline for taxes. Those that celebrate Easter this year, it is late on April 24th and not only do we celebrate it that day but it is also the Greek Easter.

Before you know it May will be here and Town Meeting will be our next important democratic process in town.  Start reviewing warrant articles as soon as posted to be well informed for your vote at town meeting

We must continue to be informed and demand our voices heard on The Commons at Weiss Farm.  Make sure that every board in town researches and prepares written letters for the Board of Appeals to review to assist them in making a fully prepared decision when the developer seeks his comprehensive permit upon the clearance of Mass. Housing. Wishful thinking would be that Mass. Housing denies their request based on the extensive outcry of our town and the serious problems such a development would cause.

Questions arise as to what is happening with Mass Housing which is the permit granting authority under Chapter 40B of Mass. General Laws. Some may think “silence is golden” and maybe it is.  Inquiring minds would like to know what our legal representation has done and what he has told his client, the Board of Selectmen that represents us.  The longer it takes the better and just maybe our town representatives will consider avenues to prevent future developers from trashing our town by hiring an economic developer, revamp zoning laws, create public ordinances and warrant articles to preserve and protect our town.

When the showers of April arrive and the flowers start to bud please do not forget to persevere in preventing The Commons at Weiss Farm.
