Upcoming Town Election, Tuesday, April 1st...

Whether you are supporting Candidate for Re-election, Ann Marie O'Neill or Challenger, Raymie Parker, for the position of Town Selectman during this most important upcoming town election on Tuesday, April 1st, it is of utmost importance you make as an informed decision as possible, before you cast your ballot.

Wouldn't it be great, if there was an opportunity for candidates to appear in front of town residents/voters, where the voters had an opportunity to directly ask the candidates questions of particular concern to the voter and receive a direct response from each candidate, instead of the indirect forum currently in use. This face-to-face forum would help voters to make an informed decision to hear what the candidates had to say about a particular issue.

While this type of forum is not currently offered to the town voters, the next best opportunity to hear candidates weigh in on town issues is to watch a re-run of the forum held on Wed., March 19 on our own Stoneham local cable TV!

There are ample opportunities for Stoneham voters to watch re-runs before April 1st. View these re-runs on Stoneham TV's Government Access Channels, Comcast, Channel 22; RCN, Channel 15; and Verizon, Channel 36. You may also watch this re-run on On-Demand at www.stonehamtv.org/ondemand and find the programs in the 'Town Election' playlist.

By watching this forum, you the voter, will be able to see how the candidates responded to questions on various town issues, where they stand on issues, how well informed each candidate is, and what they purpose to do for the town over their next 3 year term of office. I encourage and challenge every eligible Stoneham voter to watch these re-runs and then cast their ballot on Tuesday, April 1st.

It is coming up on one year of the unimaginable horror and tragedy that occured at the Boston Marathon, where seven of our Stoneham residents lost limbs. From that, we as a town came together in many venues in support of those affected. "Stoneham Strong" and "We are Stoneham" were displayed on T-shirts, sweatshirts, and banners. These phrases were also verbalized many times by residents at town gatherings and events. What a great example we set for our children! What civic pride we displalyed as a town!

Let us continue to set a fine example to our children and illustrate our collective civic pride by turning out to vote in record numbers not seen in local elections in decades! Instead of the predicted 10% of eligible voters casting their ballots, let's see how close to 100% we can get! Stoneham, we can do it! Get out there and vote! But, cast your vote in an intelligent and informed manner! "Your mission, should you choose to accept"... Eligible Stoneham voters, will you accept this challenge?!
