Help a Melrose Dog Injured in Bay State Road Home Fire

Each week, we'll be highlighting a GoFundMe campaign in the Melrose area.

GoFundMe page has been created to help Murphy, a Melrose dog injured in a two-alarm fire at a Bay State Road home on Sunday, Jan. 19.

"On January 19, 2014, Murphy was caught in a terrible house fire. Luckily, Murphy was rescued, but he sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the emergency vet," reads the page. "Currently, Murphy is still in the emergency vet receiving treatment for chemical burns to his throat, nose and lungs and remains in an oxygen chamber.

"Additionally, Murphy's family lost nearly everything but the clothes they were wearing in this fire and are currently trying to deal with the loss of all of their personal items and home while Murphy continues to heal at the vet. Murphy's vet care is extremely expensive for this round-the-clock care and any donation you can make to help cover Murphy's medical bills would be greatly appreciated."

As of 4:23 p.m. on Jan. 27 donations totaling $3,465 of the $5,000 goal had been raised for the cause.
