Colon Cancer Awareness - Screening and Information Table

On Monday, March 10th from 1130am-2pm, a representative and a nurse from Winchester Hospital's Center for Healthy Living will be holding an informational table on colon cancer screenings, particularly for those aged 55 and older. Visitors to the table will be provided with educational materials and take-home fecal occult blood type test kits. Test kits will be tested for free by the Winchester Hospital lab. Those unable to make one of these community events can receive educational materials and a testing kit via mail by calling Jennifer Donnelly, Clinical Coordinator, directly at (781) 756-4720.

In the United States, colorectal cancer – cancer of the colon or rectum – is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among both men and women. Screening for colorectal cancer can find precancerous polyps (abnormal growths), so they can be removed before they become cancerous. Screening also detects colorectal cancer early, when treatment is most effective. Take the time to stop by the table to learn more – it could be life-saving.
