Board of Selectman Meeting

The turnout at the last Board of Selectman meeting was amazing. Thank you again for your support!  The meeting showed that democracy works and the people were heard on the issue of the Greenway.  Guess what, there is another meeting Tuesday. There are three very important matters facing Stoneham that need your support. Please consider coming to the next Board of Selectmen meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 24th at 7:00 p.m. Your presence makes all the difference as usual.

1. Katherine Clark and Jason Lewis are joining meeting to discuss state aid to Stoneham, including the formulas that determine state education (Chapter 70) funding Stoneham receives. They will also discuss how Stoneham might position itself to qualify for more state aid and grants. Finally there will be discussion pertaining to a variety of important local projects where the town is partnering with the state.

2. There will be an update on the progress removing fill from the Maple Street section of the RR ROW (or lack of progress). Following the last BOS meeting, the Greenway Committee met with Town Administrator, David Ragucci; Town Council, and Bill Solomon several times to create a plan.

3. The town administrator will be recommending a new trash system. The current system requires us to pay the yearly trash fee and we can reduce it. The board is presenting options that reduce or remove that fee over the next few years.
