World Teachers' Day 2012: Who is Your Favorite Teacher in Stoneham?

Check out the Five Things column for Friday, Oct. 5.

1. Special day: Friday, Oct. 5 is World Teachers' Day 2012, so with that in mind we'd like to know: Who is your favorite teacher in Stoneham? Let us know by posting a comment below.

2. Pose a question: Got questions for State Rep. candidates George Georgountzos and Jason Lewis? Ask them in the comments section of this post.

3. Volunteers among us: Do you know someone in the community doing good deeds on a regular basis? Let us know by posting a comment here with the person's name, their organization, if applicable, and what they are doing to make Stoneham a better place.

4. Pie to the mug: We're currently at 682 Facebook "likers," but our goal is to get to 1,000 likers before 2013 arrives. So, as an incentive (of sorts), Stoneham Patch Editor Mark Ouellette will take a pie to the face. Want to help the cause? Visit the Stoneham Patch Facebook page and click the "like" button located at the top of the page.

5. Newsletter abound: Did you know you can get community news and activities updates in our daily newsletter? If you haven't created a free user account on Stoneham Patch, you can sign up for our breaking news alerts and daily newsletters, both of which are delivered to your email inbox. You can sign up here.

For more activities, visit our events calendar.

I thought you might enjoy this heartfelt video we put together thanking teachers everywhere for all the things they do and for inspiring students and cultivating the love of learning. While today is World Teachers' Day, we feel that celebrating teachers should not be limited to just one day. Salute to Teachers Video: http://youtu.be/ypFRxw9czi4 Please join The GLOBE Program (www.globe.gov) in celebrating teachers everywhere by sharing this with your favorite teacher, within your social networks or with anyone who shares our passion for education and those who truly make a difference in the lives of students around the world. If you currently are a teacher or if you were a teacher, thank you for all you have done, all you are doing and everything you will come to do. We are grateful for your service. Erik (The GLOBE Program)
