Investigative reporter and author Hank Phillippi Ryan will be visiting Melrose Public Library Thursday night to talk about her latest mystery novel "The Other Woman," according to a press statement.

From 7:30-8:45 p.m., Ryan will be giving a talk and signing copies of her latest effort, which is the start of a new series of mystery novels.

"The Other Woman," reached number two on The Boston Globe's Bestseller List, according to the statement. The political thriller and murder mystery novel first hit bookshelves on Sept. 4.

"After being discredited for refusing to reveal a source, investigative reporter Jane Ryland stumbles upon a political cover-up — a high-profile Senate candidate who may be carrying on an affair – and as she chases the story, it appears a serial killer hunting the young women of Boston is connected," reads the statement.

Ryan is an investigative reporter for Boston's NBC affiliate, and has won 28 Emmys and 10 Edward R. Murrow awards, according to the statement. A best-selling author of four mystery novels, Ryan has won the Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity awards, reads the statement. She’s also on the national board of directors of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime.
