WHY MARTIAL ARTS IS NEEDED FOR THE 21ST CENTURY?

I am often asked why would an adult want to train in martial arts.

There is a common perception in America that martial arts is intended and relevant only for children, that it’s a gym workout, or that it’s a fight in a cage.

Traditional martial arts training is the culmination of over 5,000 years of human experimentation, systemization, and application of physical movements not only for health and self-defense, but, on a higher level, as the backbone of individual success and happiness.

Why should you consider martial arts training?

  • Have you ever experienced financial challenges? (Often due to a lack of willpower and action)
  • Have you ever experienced relationship challenges? (Often due to poor awareness and communication)
  • Have you ever experienced a significant injury, illness or disease? (Often from not investing or understanding how to build one’s health and immune system)
  • Have you ever, or are you currently, having a prolonged recovery from an injury, illness or disease? (Often from not investing or understanding how to fix one’s body through physical movements and mental attitude)
  • Have you ever experienced social pressures? (Often from lacking confidence, willpower and determination and patience to pursue one’s true desires)
  • Have you ever felt you should be further in your professional career by now? (Often from a lack of meaning, desire, confidence, and willpower)
  • Have you ever felt there was more to life than what you feel now? (Often from not pursuing, seeing or understanding the right questions and answers)

Your experiences are the results of all the decisions and indecisions and actions or inactions you’ve made up until this point in time.

If you’re the type of person to blame other people and things for where you are in life right now, then this article is not something you’re ready to understand, much less apply, in your life.

High level martial arts training constantly develops the mind and body, regardless of age and ability, to harness one’s willpower, determination, patience, confidence, and focus to accomplish what a person wants.

A high level martial arts practitioner is using martial arts in every moment, in every action and in every decision in their life.  It’s a way of life that includes all other ways of life. Most people I meet don’t have an inkling as to what level this application can reach.  Their environment and life’s experiences didn’t teach or reinforce this human potential.

Most times, people aren’t aware of the difference between truly happy and unhappy.  They don’t know the difference between being healthy and unhealthy.  Most people are distracted by “surviving” to get to their next paycheck or their job or their kids.

However, more people are seeking out instructors, guides, teachers and masters who are willing to help them create a more fulfilling, successful and meaningful life.

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.  When the teacher is ready, the student will appear.

America is realizing that what is being taught to its children isn’t the information they need to seek, find and master their personal lives.  Our country is realizing that its healthcare relies on the easier, but expensive treatment things that are already broken rather than the cheaper, yet harder work of taking care of yourself.

You can have or you can have not.  There is no neutral ground.  Anyone caught in the middle is going to have to land on one side or other.  The so-called disappearing middle class is seeing and feeling this pressure every day.  The good news is that those who are truly ready to do the hard work will rise above but they need help.

This is why martial arts is needed for the 21st Century.  You won’t be able to rise above alone.  You need the help of others.  You need more strength to accomplish more of you want.  The more that you get what you want, the more meaning and value you bring into your life.
