The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at Stoneham Theatre.

"Double Indemnity," a drama centered around love and murder, premieres Thursday night at Stoneham Theatre, according to a press statement.

"Double Indemnity" kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and costs $40 to 48; however, opening night is "Pay What You Can Night" so guests can pay what they can to see it. The show will be performed on various dates through Nov. 4.

"In 1944, Billy Wilder, Raymond Chandler, Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray invented film noir with the movie 'Double Indemnity.' Now, over 60 years later, Stoneham Theatre is presenting the New England premiere of 'Double Indemnity,' the play," reads the statement. "Recently adapted for the stage in 2011 by David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright, critics have called 'Double Indemnity' 'sleek,' 'sexy,' and 'thrilling.'"
