FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

  • St. Patrick's Day Crafts At the Library
    • Where/When: , 431 Main St., Stoneham on March 17 from 2-3:20 p.m. in the Children's Room.
    • Why go: Children can enjoy making "go Green" crafts to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
    • Pricing: Free.
  • Outrageous Otters!
    • Where/When: Stone Zoo, 149 Pond St., Stoneham on March 19 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
    • Why go: Children ages 5-7, accompanied by an adult, can learn about otters and their environment.
    • Pricing: $8 for members, $10 non-members. For families with more than one 5-7 year old, $4 each.
  • Mother Goose Lapsit
    • Where/When: , 64 Middlesex Ave., Reading on March 16 from 10:15-10:45 a.m. in the Conference Room.
    • Why go: Children under the age of 2, along with their caretakers, can sit in for storytime with a librarian and Cocoa Moose. Note: You can register at the Children's Room desk for a four-week session.
    • Pricing: Free.
  • Student-Teacher "March Madness" Basketball Tourney
    • Where/When: , 149 Franklin St., Stoneham on March 18 at 6 p.m. in the gym.
    • Why go: It's the first annual student-faculty basketball tournament
      sponsored by the Stoneham High School Booster Club.
    • Pricing: $3 for students, $5 adults. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
  • Teen "Crafternoon:" Luck 'O the Irish
    • Where/When: , 64 Middlesex Ave., Reading on March 17 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. 
    • Why go: The program is geared toward teens and "tweens," as they can make beaded jewelry as well as a Blarney Stone for kissing.
    • Pricing: Free.
