What Items Can Be Recycled Through Single-Stream Recycling In Stoneham?

In our latest You Ask, Patch Answers post, we address a reader's question concerning what can and cannot be recycled via the single-stream recycling program in Stoneham.

According to a town flyer, here are the items that can be recycled in one bin in Stoneham:
•Paperback books
•Corrugated cardboard and paper bags
•Paper milk and juice cartons (no foil pouches)
•Newspapers and inserts
•Phone books
•Clean, balled aluminum foil (two inches or larger) and pie pans
•Loose metal jar lids and steel bottle caps
•Magazines, brochures and catalogs
•White or pastel office paper
•Cans
•Glass bottles and jars
•File folders
•Blueprints
•Opened mail and greeting cards
•Paper egg cartons
•Paperboard boxes
•Plastic bottles
•Plastic tubs
•Jugs
•Jars
•Plastic containers nos. 1-7

Items that cannot be mixed in with single-stream recyclables include:

•Plastic bags
•Styrofoam
•Paper-to-go boxes
•Scrap metal
•Tyvek envelopes
•Plastic six-pack holders
•Needles or syringes
•Paper ream wrappers
•Plastic microwave trays
•Frozen food, ice cream or frozen juice containers
•Mirrors, ceramics or Pyrex dishes
•Light bulbs, plates or vases
•Drinking glasses, window glass
•Hazardous or bio-hazardous waste
•Plastics other than those listed above
•Tissues, paper towels, napkins
•Waxed paper or waxed cardboard
•Stickers or sheets of address labels (affixed address labels and stamps OK)

Stickers to identify recyclable containers are available at the DPW and Town Hall in Stoneham.
